Some good news arrived while we were away, after three years of being on our councils waiting list we have an allotment! A small patch of ground for us to grow some vegetables and perhaps a few flowers. On Saturday we went to their annual festival, where growers lined up their crops to be judged. This should be made into TV program, great characters placed lines of black berries, beans, tomatoes, troughs of flowers onto tables, hoping to win a trophy. At the end they auctioned off the produce. I bought these dahlias, they add a little sunshine to our room as tonight I can hear the rhythm of rain falling on our windows, making our holiday a fading memory!
