Flowers of the sea.

Photographer Mikkel Vang

Inspiring images from Vogue Living a while back.

Flowers of the sea.

Call us not weeds,
we are flowers of the sea,
For lovely, and bright, and gay-tinted are we;
And quite independent of culture or showers;
Then call us not weeds, we are Ocean's gay Flowers.

So here you have it.

I had yesterday snuggled up to my sick boy, ignoring paper work I choose to flick through a huge pile of magazines. Well why not?

I found these images and thought they were divine.

Makes me want to head for the hills in search of a log cabin, with just a sketchbook and paint.
Kids laughing on a wooden swing, kicking up a storm.
Me?

So thoughtful of you to ask!
I'm in the dust painting, while my husband has sorted out supper and made the bed.

Heaven!

This way and that.

Colours.

This piece is now finished (think this pic was a stage away from the finished article.)

Starting to feel comfortable with the way I am painting at the moment.

Feels nice, but with the Easter hols starting next week, my stride will be broken for a few weeks!

Leslie Oschmann

Once again I am loving Leslie Oschmann, this time I am coveting these stunning bags she has cut and stitched from old paintings.
Why do I want everything that she makes? I love the fun element she delivers, tongue in cheek, always working with old paintings but coming up with fun ideas each time.

I also really like this idea, she has come up with.
Sticking old paintings onto plates.

Eliminating framing, and taking the traditional idea of showing off your families heirlooms in a totally modern way.

Great fun.

Re working

Re working this piece.

This is the start, but already it feels right.

Hopefully it will stay this way!

Happy Friday, I hope it is sunny for you!

The Makers. Jennifer Causey.

all photos Jennifer Causey.

There is always something special about someones creative space. I love visiting artists studios, the feel, smell and visually it is always very pulling. There is always a sense of stepping onto sacred land.

So I have been captivated this afternoon while looking at 'The Makers' a photo documentary of the creative makers in Brooklyn, New York by Jennifer Causey. She has taken that sacred land and opened it up. Finding the most interesting people and telling us their stories through her photographs and words. She admirably captures the intensity these people have for their trade, and a love of living in Brooklyn.

I think Jennifer Causey is magnificent. Should she ever step across the water and find herself in London I would love to meet her. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

New loving.

A snapshot of new work emerging from my studio.

Loving painting there, the artists there are incredible.

There is even a van that arrives with coffee and snacks mid morning.

I love meeting new faces that congregate around the van, sipping coffee and sharing news.
