Emma Cassi.

Aren’t these photographs beautiful? I think they are really captivating. They are of jewellery designer and stylist Emma Cassis home and work, photographed for Selvedge magazine by Kristen Perers.

I am sure many of you already follow her, her jewellery is truly elegant and beautiful. She hand embroiders precious stones and antique sequins on to vintage lace creating modern jewellery with a timeless appeal.  You can see where Emma draws her inspiration, her home is visual pleasure that makes your heart want to burst. Please take a moment to visit her blog and shop, and you can read a little more here about the time I got to see her home for myself. Emma is a very talented woman who deserves every success. Enjoy!

I know you are going to like this one.

My mantle with one of Kris's color stripes mushrooms.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the words. Sometimes it’s hard to find a vision. Sometimes you get a call from a good friend and it can change all that.

Such a simple thing, a voice. We live in a world that is void of contact be it internet, text messaging, blogging, tweeting, face booking, blablabla you get the idea. The sound of a friendly voice with a laugh in her pocket can blow the lot away.

My friend rarely texts or comments on facebook, she says she doesn’t know what to say. But you see she does, as she is always the dependable one to pick up the phone, to chat and actually hear the laugh. Thank you my friend, you know who you are. I look forward to a few more laughs at the weekend.

On the subject of the weekend and texting, my sister asked me today’ Do you fancy going to the County Show on Monday? Lots of rare bread animals with large goolies!’ 'yesyesyes!' I responded. She knows me well, I love this kind of thing! (rare breads you understand.) You can imagine the banter back and forth, as we both have four year olds who are curious about the egg and the funny swimming thingy. So much so I had to buy Dillon that ‘Mummy laid an egg’ book. Those of you with kids, I know will now be laughing. I was not prepaired for the page ‘and here are some ways that mummies and daddies fit together!’

On that note I shall leave you, and I promise at least one photo in some form or another, of said rare breeds next week!

Pia Ulin

Photography by Pia Ulin.

I love the textures, colours, and shapes.

Sometimes when I am not here, I am on my tumbler page. It is fun and a little addictive.

We all need a vice.

A evening away

Six years ago today I married the man who stole my handbag as well as my heart.

We are taking an evening out to stroll down the promenade together, kick up our heals and dip in the sea.

My notebook.

This week it has felt as if I have been wearing foggy glasses and I have been unable to focus. This is fairly unusual for me, give me a free hour and I can conquer the world. My brain as felt like the above picture, today I was going to turn this around, but everything ended up going pear shaped in every thing I attempted! (No joke, even the little things.) So now I am off to pick up the little ones and spend the afternoon painting their faces and going to see their grandma.

I will make the little things count for a lot.

Plentitude.

My finished painting to replace Rose. Silver leaf, oil paint and metal particles. 122x122cm © Kate Kelleher 2010

Reading Abigail Aherns blog this morning has made me want to re think my garden. She was talking about 3B planting. Meaning bee, butterfly and bug friendly plants. Apparently they enjoy single headed flowers as double headed flowers are pollen less. I hang my head in shame, as our small garden mostly contains double headed flowers. They bring out the Barbara Cartland in me. I shall have to amend my ways.

Vox Populi.

In my former life we used to buy from a French company called Vox Populi. I first met them at Salon Maison & Object and immediately fell in love with the charm that Pascale creates with her wire sculptures. Each piece is a magical fairytale that takes you away to another land. She made châteaux’s twisted from wire with a tiny light, that you could actually switch on. It hung from the ceiling and lit a pair of small wire chairs covered in floral antique fabric. Wire chandeliers, with tiny multi coloured beach washed glass beads strung around it’s under carriage, with tiny birthday candles waiting to be lit.

Thank you Ulla from Mothtails for jogging my memory. I had forgotten this gem. I urge the rest of you to take a few moments out today to look here, the photos of Pascal’s showroom in Avignon is beyond words. Breathtaking.

Go.. now.... go on… go!

I have been working on this for the last week, so far I have only managed a few hours at a time, just enough to conquer it piece by piece. I also have been thinking about painting fish for a while, so it needed to come out. Unfortunately the colours are not true to life. I can not alter this until I get a Mac which will hopefully be soon. (errrhem Tom.) I also then have to work out how to use it.

The painting is not so grey, more like pale sage green with pink highlights, and the lily flower is bright white so it stands out a fair mount. I used acrylics which I have not used for a few years now. I just wanted fast drying paint, as I waste a fair amount of time waiting for paint to dry. It still needs a little work but it is almost there.

Anthropologie.

Anthropologie. There is no where like it here in the UK. Always innovative, spectacular, eye popping pieces. These are South African show pieces that are presently being shown in the UK.

Potter Frauke Stegmann is being showcased at Regent Street. Her tea sets are created from memories forged from forgotten pieces found in flea markets in Europe and South Africa. She recasts the objects in white porcelain sealing memories and intrigue with in.

Having a tree surgery company is handy for Adam Birch with an endless supply, he defines the natural shape of the tree, sculpting one off chairs. Head over to Regent Street if you fancy a pew.

Old school techniques with a modern vibe. Beautiful vessels by John Bauer are available at Regent Street.

I have been watching these from a far for a while. Humorous sculptures by Shirley Fintz. The handmade piled high animals, hitching a ride make me smile every time. Floppy oversized jugs decorated with floral and delft lavished with colours that zing. Available at Kings Road and Regent Street. More here.

The baobab tree created by Streetwires for the entrance into the Kings Road store. A project that helps over one hundred unemployed men and women, giving them chance to learn wire skills enabling them to create, and therefore provide.

Always innovative,
always spectacular,
always eye popping
Anthropologie.

Niki Jones

I am scouting around looking for new cushions as ours haven't managed to survive the constant bombardment from the little ones.

These are from Niki Jones. I really like this look, and I don’t just want to stop at cushions. Gorgeous.

Tim Walker

Man o man I want to live in his head for a bit. His head and that of Liliroze. A match made in heaven. It's late but this couldn't wait. Not a minute. The colours, the style, the glamour, the glitter, the tale, the intrigue, I want it all. More gorgeous photography from Tim Walker from way back... Nov 2008 for Vogue Italia.

Found over at Rococo Vintage’s super fantastic blog.
