Alice in Wonderland.

Something tells me Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland is going to be immense. I can't wait to don my 3D glasses once again.

Move over Dorothy.

Footwear designer Tracey Neuls, artist Nina Saunders and Sanderson forged a three way collaboration for London Fashion Week to celebrate Sandersons 150th Birthday. Following the trend of digging around in the archives for inspiration for such occasions Tracey has embalmed her shoes, while Ninas has been playfully sculpting melting furniture with the archival prints.

I hope my big man will be swinging me round the dance floor in a pair of these when I am 150!

Claire Basler

Photographs Mads Mogensen

I saw inspirational artist Claire Basler in this months Elle Decoration. On this sunny windy day I want to climb up into her shoes. I would love to own the painting above the bed.

I salute you Clare, you take my breath away and make me want to be you.

Your home, your paintings, your space and light, my heart.

Honest, simple, reclaimed, calm, Mark and Sally Baileys book Simple Home takes us on a personal journey round homes and spaces many of us aspire to. With beautiful photography by Debi Treloar.

I love the paintings, and of course the pealing paint. Feeling inspired? More here.

Kung Hei Fat Choi

We celebrated Chinese New Year last Sunday with friends, all be it a bit late. We ordered (or rather I have to take responsibility here) far too much Dim Sum that even the lazy Susan couldn’t spin round the table, not for the sheer weight of dishes, but because there were too many other dishes already on the table. Oh their faces as they bought out, basket after basket. I wanted to hide under the table. Of course I then had to over compensated my mistake and eat far too much. We all had doggy bags that lasted until yesterday! I now miss not having it for breakfast.
Dillon was given this lucky charm by our waitress, his new love. He wanted to hang it in his room and chose this spot. I just hope it brings me luck next time we are there as my husband could not believe what I had done! Hey ho, you only live once. All be it with a very full belly.

The river that flows both ways. Spencer Finch.

Recently I saw this picture. Its Spencer Finch’s ‘The river that flows both ways’. The colours, rhythm and scale made me want to know more. It is a brilliant art instillation on the Highline, Manhattans newest park, built and landscaped onto a track made in the 1930's to transport freight trains from the Hudson through and above NY City.

Photo Florian Koenigsberger

Spencer Finch is an artist who likes to replicate time and space using colour. Thinking it would be impossible to take one photo to replicate the water of the Hudson as it is constantly changing, so he took 700 pictures to try to get close. He strapped his camera to the side of a boat and then photographed the water every minute for 700 minutes. He then matched the pixels of each photograph to 700 individual panes of glass, which he then placed in windows in an old loading dock.

The Highline,10 years designing and constructing, this magnificent elevated park in the sky will be a mile and a half long when finished, bringing wildlife back to the city, communities together and a place to gather and relax. This is on my list to see that’s for sure.

I keep going back

I keep going back for more.

Inspiration from a thing for.....there are no words, just tingles up the spine, the catching of ones breath.

Just keep it coming. Please.

Merci Liberty

Merci and Liberty are holding hands next month and sliding into bed with each other. Two lovelies rolling around making out, and guess what? Not only do we get to watch, we get to play.

Marie France Cohen, creative director of Merci has paid tribute to Liberty’s signature flower prints and encompassed a collection ranging from fashion for the ladies, men and kids, and extended the collection into homeware, stationary and accessories.

The collection will be unveiled at Merci on March 1-21st and then hopping over to Liberty who will have a pop up shop March 8-31st. Fear not those of you that can’t make these destinations, it will also be available online from Liberty. This is sure to be a smash, so if you want it, pencil it into your diary, it won't be around for long.
Merci Liberty a match made in heaven.
P.S. I remember my mum making my sister and I a Liberty flower print all in one shorts ensemble when we lived in the States. It was little and I do mean little, you wouldn't let your daughter out in it these days number that consisted of an all in one spaghetti strap top, that was rouged in that the waist and then wait for it, shorts that just cupped the bottom. I did hunt through my photos so you could have a good laugh, but alas somehow that particular picture has been mislaid. Shame.

Oh the fun of it.

Listening to giggles in the back, we followed the sunshine and drove deep in to the country, passing England’s finest hedgerows and frosty fields to the Bluebell railway. One thing I know for sure, is that today I became a train spotter.

I never thought it would be so much fun! The rhythmic pull of the carriage, the bellowing clouds of steam, the rise of noise, the bounce of the seats, the pace of the country whizzing past, the rasp of the whistle, the screams in a dark tunnel, the laughter, the click of the camera. This day will stay with me forever.

All I need now is a platform, a time table and a woolly hat.

Peacock blue.

I really want to paint a wall in my kitchen peacock blue. I am thinking of using all the above shades, so the wall is different shades as I go along. The head boy is not so keen, in fact not keen at all. I am thinking that maybe I could paint the wall myself, one day when he is busy at work. Like really busy, one day that might require drinks after work. I am sure he would not notice.

Look Mr fancy pants arrived!

Look at Mr fancy pants...not only is he fancy, he is an Italian fancy pants of the very best kind! He arrived yesterday, and he was waiting very patiently on my door step. He was nestled in crinkly pink tissue paper with a deep aroma of sandalwood, which I think suits him well. Kris from Kris's colour stripes said that he is a very polite and friendly mushroom, I think this is true as he was just as delighted to meet the children as they were to meet him!

Magpie and the wardrobe.

Look at these little ladies all dressed up and ready to go! I have coveted these lovelies since the day I  walked into Liberty’s and saw them peeping out of their glass case, waving at me I tell you they were, willing me to take them out and have some fun.

What do you imagine they do once the shop lights go out at the end of the day? I recon they slip on their dancing shoes, and head on over to the Champagne and Oyster Bar, where they raise the roof until day break.

Simply divine. Any one for a glass of bubbly?

Your day.

Today is your day, my love. Two years ago you came into the world, peeking at the stars. You took my breath away the moment your long hot body was placed upon my heart, which beat to your rhythm, we swayed to the dance together, you and I under the moon. You made me loose my balance and fall. Fall for you completely.

A pink ribbon was tied to the front door, and through it you came. From there on in you stole all of our hearts, placing them in your pocket, gathering up our souls. I am still catching my breath, and now the stars are watching you, my love.

Happy Birthday Matilda, mama loves you so very much. X

There is a new wind blowing in my sails. I have put the other painting to bed for a while, as it is not what I wanted for above my table. I needed colour and instead delivered something far from it. I will go back to it in a while. I have started this instead. I love the chaos of a new painting, before I become more controlled. I need to let go on so many levels. Let’s see how this one shapes up.

I got a lovely commission from the lady on the hill today. This is going to be special.

Also I spent a fair amount of time looking at this wonderful post from Le voyage creatif. Make sure you have a cup of tea in hand, I think you will be there a while.

In all my days

In all my days I don’t think I have seen clothes so beautiful. Made by Kate Towers. Found via Le voyage creatif. It is a shame her esty shop is so busy it is nearly empty. I would knock someone down to get to these first.
